Hoover Dam
As we get in Los Angeles from Italy we rent a car for our trip in the Southwest.
On both the sides of the Grand Canyon, the Colorado River is closed by two dams that form two enormous artificial lakes; Lake Powell in Utah and Lake Mead in Arizona.
Lake Mead is formed by the Hoover Dam which was built right on the border between Nevada and Arizona.

Las Vegas
After a night stay in Los Angeles we go to Las Vegas. In the picture our hotel.
This is the show of a battle among two sail ships in the swimming pool of a Las Vegas hotel.
During the show the two ships engage a furious battle firing cannons one to each other. All of a sudden one of the two ships is set on fire and it sinks with the captain on the bridge that sinks with it.... After a few seconds the sunken ship resurfaces, miraculously intact!

Grand Canyon (South Rim)
The majesty of the Grand Canyon cannot leave anybody breathless.
The erosion of the Colorado River during million of years has created the breaking that forms the Grand Canyon which it is about 1500 mt (4900 ft) deep, abouut 29 Kms wide and almost 450 Kms long.
The South Rim is the most accessible part of the Canyon and the most visted one. The Colorado River flows rather close to the South rim of the Canyon and is possible to reach it in a day trek.
Round trip on the Bright Angel Trial is almost 24 Kms and it requires about 12 hours of trekking.
