Macau

The flight from Italy brings us to Hong Kong from where we immediately take the hovercraft to go us to Macao.
At the time of our trip Macao was still a Portuguese colony.
In the picture on the left we can see the facade of a Cathedral built by the Portuguese and never completed.

Palawan

Palawan is composed by 1768 islands; the main island is 425 km long from North to South.
The flight from Manila will bring us to Puerto Princesa, the capital, where we will take a Jeepney for Port Barton.
In Port Barton we will then rent a small boat that will bring us to El Nido, an uncomfortable 6 hours voyage, with the ocean rather wavy. Despite the rough voyage the boat will be very usefuly for us in El Nido to visit the innumerable islands close to El Nido, nevertheless for the trip back to Puerto Princesa we will decide to fly.

Puerto Princesa

Palawan’s Capital Puerto Princesa is our departing point for the discovery of the island.
In Puerto Princesa we visit a Vietnamese refugee camp, VietVille Village.

Vietnamese children in the school of VietVille Village.

Port Barton

After a few hours travel by Jeepney from Puerto Princesa we finally reach Port Barton where we decided to stay a couple of days.
During our permanence to Port Barton we have also visited a small island, just in front of Port Barton, where two Italian sisters managed a small resort with few upscale bungalows.
After having spent the morning at sea we had lunch in this small resort.

El Nido

El Nido is surrounded by high calcareous rocky formations where swallow’s nests are collected (Collocalia fuciphaga) to be exported, mainly in Japan, from the swallow’s nests comes the name of the place.
Near El Nido they are around 45 islands and islets most of which completely uninhabited.
El Nido offers wonderful backdrops for scuba and skin diving.
