The central stupa, connected to the outside through a long passageway, is located in the
centre of an area of 13 acres where 729 shrines have been built. Every shrine contains a marble
stele with inscriptions of the Tipitaka on both sides.
The inscription jobs commenced in October 1860 and were completed in May 1869.
Every stele measures 150 x 100 cms (59” x 39,3”).
Originally the incisions had been gold coated. |
