Monterosso
Riomaggiore

The Cinqueterre (Five lands) are situated in the extreme East of the Liguria Region. Five ancient suburbs hidden from enchanting inlets or over sheer cliffs in a suggestive landscape unique in the world.

Monterosso

Monterosso is the largest village among the Cinqueterre.
The village is located behind cultivated hills (vineyards and olives).
The old and the new suburbs are separated from the middle age tower Aurora, situated above the hill of the Cappuccini.

Riomaggiore

Riomaggiore is the easternmost village of the Cinqueterre and it is found in valley of the Maior River.
The village was founded in the VIII century from a group of fugitive Greeks escaped from the iconoclast persecution of Leone III Isaurico.
From Riomaggiore it is possible to reach Manarola through a footpath in the cliff overlooking the sea. The footpath is called Via dell’amore (love’s street).
