Riomaggiore is the easternmost village of the Cinqueterre and it is found in valley of the Maior River.
The village was founded in the VIII century from a group of fugitive Greeks escaped from the iconoclast
persecution of Leone III Isaurico.
From Riomaggiore it is possible to reach Manarola through a footpath in the cliff overlooking the sea.
The footpath is called Via dell’amore (love’s street).
