Lussac-les-Châteaux is a small town with little more than 2000 inhabitants.
The town is known for the prehistoric sites found in the vicinity, particularly for the cave of
La Marche discovered and dug in 1937. In the cave were recovered Hundreds of limestone plates with
incisions of horses, bisons, bears, and particularly human representations that date to the Superior
Palaeolithic period. |
