The archaeological site of Delphi, classified by UNESCO as a World's
Heritage Site, is located on the south-western spur of Mount Parnassus.
Delphi was revered throughout the Greek world as the centre of the earth and the
universe, was the site of the Delphic oracle, the most important oracle in the
classical Greek world, and it was a major site for the worship of the god Apollo.
The site includes the ruins of the temple devoted to Apollo and the stadium where
every four years athletes from all over the Greek world competed in the Pythian Games.
