The first Bridge in Wuhan was built on the Yangtze River (Chang Jiang) in
1957 with the assistance of Soviet advisors, bringing the railroad through the river between
the Snake Hill and Turtle Hill.
The bridge accommodates a 4-lanes roadway above and a double-track railway on the lower deck;
its total length is 1680 meters.
At the time of my travel the First Bridge was the only one in Wuhan. The construction of a
second bridge (about 4680 meters long) was completed in 1995, while a third bridge (about 3590
meters long) was completed in 2000. |
