Around Wuhan

Wuhan
Wuhan is the capital of the Hubei Province and is the most populous city in central China. The city lies at the confluence of the Yangtse River (Chang Jiang) and the Han River.

The Yangtze is the world's third longest river.
The first Bridge in Wuhan was built on the Yangtze River (Chang Jiang) in 1957 with the assistance of Soviet advisors, bringing the railroad through the river between the Snake Hill and Turtle Hill.

The bridge accommodates a 4-lanes roadway above and a double-track railway on the lower deck; its total length is 1680 meters.

At the time of my travel the First Bridge was the only one in Wuhan. The construction of a second bridge (about 4680 meters long) was completed in 1995, while a third bridge (about 3590 meters long) was completed in 2000.

Around Wuhan

In the side picture we are visiting a small local market and we are looking the goods for sale.

Today Wuhan is deeply changed: it is a modern and cosmopolitan city. Who knows what futuristic buildings are now found in the characteristic districts of the city!
