In 1987 in the waters of Freemantle, WA, was held the first regatta of the America’s Cup out of American territory from 1851, when the Americans won the first regatta.
In 1983 Australia II, that represented the Royal Perth Yacht Club, won the regatta taking away the cup from the New York Yacht Club.
