Our flight from Italy brings us to Cairns, a tropical town in North Queensland, which is the gateway to the Great Barrier Reef. In Cairns we rent a car to get to the Daintree rainforest up to Cape Tribulation.
The greater part of the virgin tropical rainforest stretches from Mossman to Cooktown and it is called Greater Daintree.

Fraser Island
Fraser Island, 120 Km long and 15 Km wide, is the world largest sandy island and it is listed as World Heritage Site since 1993.
Vegetation on the island is abundant and the interior can be visited with 4-wheels drive vehicles only.(there are no paved roads on the island).
Fraser Island has approximately 200 fresh water lakes, in the picture we can see Lake McKenzie, a lake with deep and crystal clear water where we stopped for a swim.
